"Lesmeek Bridgeman Roundtree was my first client. I actually met her the day before she went into active labor. We instantly clicked. Our views on having a natural birth were the same. Being a doula you want to make sure you have clients that have the same interest regarding pregnancy and birth. It’s ok to have different opinions but for the majority of the pregnancy, labor and delivery process you want to see eye to eye with your client. I was so nervous when I asked Lesmeek if she needed a doula because I had never done this before. She gave me a chance and I am grateful for that! She knew she was my first client and it all worked out. I was able to give her a helping hand and coach her through her labor process. While coaching Mrs. Roundtree I started out nervous but as time progressed and she dilated I got an adrenaline-rush. I was very excited we did a lot of different exercises, we had fun, listened to music, talked about Jesus, and the laughs kept the stress off mom and the baby. It was actually pretty fun. Once she dilated to ten I remember trying to hurry up and get her on the bed because the baby was coming. That’s when I got a little nervous again but didn’t show it. I was focused on helping her with breathing techniques while pushing. Finally she delivered a handsome baby boy!"
